Extended winter wheat insurance deadlines

Grain Farmers of Ontario would like to thank Agricorp for extending winter wheat planting dates for insurance.

In most areas of the province, deadlines for planting have been extended by seven days.

“This News and change to policy is especially important given the weather challenges through the planting and harvesting season,” says Barry Senft, CEO of Grain Farmers of Ontario.

“We have worked closely with Agricorp on this important issue and are very pleased to see their commitment to addressing the concerns expressed by our membership.”

The policy change will provide farmers the opportunity to seed winter wheat after a late soybean harvest, without risking insurance coverage on those acres.

“With many regions still harvesting soybeans, this change is very timely,” adds Senft.
