Each year, as part of the Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington’s Annual General Meeting, the agency formally recognizes the generosity and support of the many volunteers in the community who contribute to the society.
The award recognizes community partners who have stood out as exemplary supporters over the course of the previous year and beyond.
This year, East Wellington Community Services has been selected as the recipient of the “Wellington County Award” for its continued support, promotion and ongoing interest through participation in fundraising endeavors for the society and education seminars related to Alzheimer’s and other dementia.
“I couldn’t believe it when I opened the letter,” said Sherri Plourde, Manager, Senior Services with EWCS.
“It is such an honour to be recognized by one of our community partners. We work hard with all of our partners so that we can provide accurate and up to date support, information and education for the community and our clients.”
The award was presented on June 19.
“It is great to see that the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by our staff are recognized by community partners. It’s a real credit to our staff for achieving an honour like this,” said Kari Simpson, Executive Director for EWCS.
The agency offers an adult day program for frail seniors and those suffering from Alzheimer’s or other dementia through the Senior Centre at Centre 2000 in Erin and the Rockmosa Community Centre in Rockwood.
