EWCS children”™s program thank firefighters for the tour of Hillsburgh fire station

The EWCS children’s program toured the new Hillsburgh Fire Station on July 8.

The children were thrilled to get to sit in the new fire truck, learn about fire safety tips such as “stop, drop and roll” and about the importance of calling 911.

“Firefighters Lee-Ann and Ryan were great with the kids … we had so many children come to this trip so it was great that they were so easy going in order to assist with our large group. It was definitely one of our best trips this year,” said Angela Mathers, Children’s Program Coordinator with EWCS.

“These trips are always a great way for us to help parents and children get acquainted with different aspects of their community,” says Marlene MacNevin, Manager of Children’s Programs.

“It also offers a chance for parents to meet and mingle with other parents and their children get a chance to make new friends”. Many of the children’s programs are offered at no charge and offer different experiences for children up to six years old. Programs range from drop-in play groups to programs that focus on literacy, and through the summer there is a stroller hike program and many more.
