Everdale Organic Farm and Environmental Learning Centre presents Carrot Fest 2009 on Sept. 12 from 10am to 4pm.
Carrot Fest is a celebration of healthy food and healthy living, a day of farm crafts, games, and educational activities.
Visitors can take part in the Harvest games and discover the seed saving maze, or bake in the earthen oven and visit with farm animals.
Tania of Makin’ will be bringing some exclusive carrot inspired designs to the festival for facepainting to celebrate the carrot.
For adults there is a seed saving workshop and tours of Home Alive, the straw bale demonstration home.
There is a farm tour to chat about organic agriculture, while visiting the animals and gardens.
There will be organic food available all day and a bounty of freshly picked carrots.
Children’s admission is free, and adults is $7.
Everdale encompasses a working organic farm, a mix of animals, a heritage seed garden, forests, and meadows. It boasts demonstration models of sustainable technologies, and education programs for school kids, new farmers and the public.
