ELORA– The Escape: Transcending Bounds exhibition opened at the Elora Centre for the Arts on April 5 and runs until May 11, featuring the work of the Octarine Women’s Artists’ Collective. Founded in 2013, the group exhibits annually, creating new work for each show that addresses a theme or concept that resonates with them. Escape: Transcending Bounds refers to the inherent desire for freedom, peace and self-discovery, a necessary endeavour for mental and emotional well-being. The exhibit displays the work of nine artists: Gail Brown, Nancy Farrell, Judy French, Carol Hughes, Kim Johnston, Dianne Kennedy Cruttenden, Leslie Miles, Gail Root, and M. Anne Smith. It includes close to 40 pieces in media including water colour, textiles, oils, acrylic paint and pastel.
