Erin Seedy Saturday event goes virtual

Seed pickup date is March 6 in Erin; all orders must be placed in advance

ERIN – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Erin Seedy Saturday has gone virtual.

Organizer Jen Edwards has been busy collecting, sorting and organizing seeds since last fall.

“I am supporting local vendors, and COVID has made it difficult for everyone,” Edwards told the Advertiser.

She added, “There is a need to help the local smaller companies and the residents, many of whom just started gardens during the pandemic, worried about where their food comes from.”

Visit the Erin Seedy Saturday website to browse the catalogue and make your selection from the vast assortment of produce and flower varieties.

Seed library orders can be emailed to Edwards at: erinseedlibrary@gmail.com. Orders must be submitted by March 2.

The website also features event sponsors, local vendors offering seeds, garden supplies, maple syrup, rain barrels and turtle signs.

All orders will be available for pickup in drive-through style at the Erin United Church/McMillan Park parking lot, at 115 Main Street Erin, between 11am and 3pm on March 6.

Edwards is also running photo contest via the Erin Seed Library’s Facebook page. Deadline for the contest is March 2.
