Erin Rotary donates $8,000 to senior transportation program

Club designates portion of Summerfest and Feast of Hops events to assist EWCS

ERIN – Through a donation of $8,000, the Rotary Club of Erin is supporting East Wellington Community Services’ (EWCS) efforts to build stronger transportation solutions for local seniors in need.

A portion of the proceeds of the 2023 Summerfest and 2023 Feast of Hops events were targeted for this worthy cause, officials state.

Erin Rotary Club members met up with the EWCS team for the cheque presentation ceremony at the EWCS offices in Erin back in September.

Strategic direction

“Supporting seniors in need aligns with the mission and strategic direction of Erin Rotary,” says club president Nina de Vaal.

“Through the participation we receive from the community for events, we are thrilled to support this critical service for seniors in our community.”

EWCS executive officer Kari Sampson was grateful for the support.

“We appreciate the Rotary Club’s ongoing generosity and fundraising efforts, which show their commitment to our cause and belief in our mission,” Sampson said.

Adding the funds will help the transportation program evolve, providing safe and dependable transit rides for people with limited mobility and enabling access to community support and medical appointments.

 Rotary support continues

Erin Rotary plans to continue to support the Seniors Transportation program of EWCS.

A portion of the proceeds from the 2023 Wine Survivor event will be earmarked for EWCS as well.

By purchasing a Wine Survivor ticket, adults in the community can win wine prizes.

The ticket sales campaign runs from Oct. 23 to Nov. 24, and the daily wine survivor draws will occur from Nov. 27 to Dec. 8.
