ERIN – Council here has passed a bylaw to renew an agreement with Enbridge Gas to provide natural gas services in Erin for the next 20 years.
The current agreement expires next year, and the new agreement will carry forward to 2042.
Earlier this year, the company applied for renewal with Erin on-board.
The Ontario Energy Board approved the application, granting Enbridge, in part, the “right to construct and operate works for the distribution, transmission and storage of natural gas, and the right to extend and add to the works” within Erin.
Enbridge is the sole provider of natural gas to the town and has previously donated $500,000 to Safe Community Project Zero, a program delivering smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, from which Erin has benefited.
