Firefighters from Erin Fire and Emergency Services were called to a structure fire on Wellington Road 22 near Winston Churchill Boulevard on Aug. 8 around 6:30pm.
“Crews found an kitchen fire, which was extinguished by the firefighters, but the house suffered considerable smoke damage and the kitchen was destroyed,” said Fire Chief Dan Callaghan.
He explained an unattended pot with grease in it left on the stove was the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported. Callaghan estimates the damage at $60,000.
