It seems the show will go on.
The Erin Home and Lifestyle Show’s future was uncertain for a time and as Patricia Kastanek told councillors here on Jan. 22, it appeared uncertain whether the 2013 event would happen.
Kastanek gave a brief summary of her involvement with Erin’s economic development committee and the Erin Home and Lifestyle Show.
Her presentation outlined issues needing to be addressed to successfully run the 2013 event.
Initially Kastanek indicated she was seeking council’s support to cancel the 2013 Erin Home and Lifestyle Show and to reboot the show in 2014.
However, members of the local Rotary Club, East Wellington Chamber of Commerce (EWCC) and the Erin BIA indicated they would be willing to assist Kastanek to host the show this year.
Kastanek was asked to meet with the parties and to present a plan and budget to council on Feb. 5, at which time it would consider a resolution to appoint an ad hoc committee to enable the show to proceed.
Given the short time lines to produce the home show for April 27, David Netherton of the EWCC called an emergency meeting on Jan. 23.
Kastanek brought resource notes with her, including last year’s registration forms for the vendors, the gift bag promotion form and the floor plan.
It was agreed that the home show committee will follow the same procedures and details as last year. On Feb. 5, a detailed plan was presented to council, along with a budget of roughly $13,500 and projected revenues of about $12,750.
