The Association for Community Theatres – Central Ontario (ACT-CO) held its gala awards night on April 4 here at Paradise Gardens.
Over 500 actors, directors, cast members and crews from throughout the area came to recognize their best.
Although Erin Community Theatre and Century Theatre Guild are members, Caledon Townhall Players was the only local group in the Erin area to participate in the festival. They had two entries this year.
They were Sylvia, directed by Pamela Niesiobedzki-Curtis and produced by John Carter, both of Erin, and When the Reaper Calls, directed by Marilyn Edridge and produced by Sal Bellicoso, both of Caledon village.
There were 44 shows being considered. The Caledon Townhall Players, achieved three nominations.
Niesiobedzki-Curtis (with her third nomination in the category), received a nomination for best set design in a comedy for her concept and design for Sylvia. Her leading actress, Kierston Drier, of Caledon, received a nomination for best leading lady in a comedy for her portrayal of Sylvia (the dog).
The third nomination was to Marilyn Edridge and her lighting crew for best lighting design for a comedy.
