GUELPH – The Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) has chosen the Eramosa Learning Academy (ELA), formerly GS CARE, to operate a child care centre at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School.
The school, located at 391 Victoria Rd. N. in Guelph, is currently under construction.
ELA is set to introduce a 64-space early learning program for infants to preschoolers, building on a strong eight-year relationship with the school community through operating the before and after school program at St. Patrick.
The centre is projected to open in July 2024.
The WCDSB and County of Wellington were given approval to proceed with building a childcare centre at the school in January, and began construction in the summer.
The childcare centre is funded by the provincial government.
This announcement marks a significant milestone for ELA, which recently debuted licensed, week-long, STEAM school-age camps in Guelph and Rockwood – a designation empowering ELA to offer subsidized and Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Care spaces for camps.
ELA also operates an early learning centre in Rockwood and six before and after school programs in Guelph.
All current ELA programs are part of the CWELCC program.
“We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract, which builds on our existing relationship with the Wellington Catholic District School Board” said owner and pedagogical leader Noma Vales.
Additional spaces needed
“The Brant neighbourhood needed additional child care spaces in the community and we look forward to serving more families in Guelph at this new facility.”
The new centre will accommodate 10 infants, 30 toddlers, and 24 preschoolers.
Registration is not currently open. The registration opening date will be posted on the ELA website.
