ELORA – The Elora Festival is joining Riverfest Elora in the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA).
The Festival and Singers announced the partnership with the arts centre, as well as an office sharing agreement with Riverfest, on Sept. 25.
“The Elora Singers board felt it is not only exciting, but important to join Riverfest Elora in shared space at the (ECFTA),” stated Peter Barr, chair of the Elora Singers Board, in a press release.
“It makes the ECFTA truly the centre for artistic festival collaboration in Elora.”
Barr noted the new agreement “builds upon the current collaboration with ECFTA and Elora Singers,” which includes a weekly art and singing program for adults with disabilities. In addition, it opens new opportunities for our organization to work closely with the other significant musical arts Festival in our community” says Peter Barr, Chair of the Elora Singers Board.
Sheila Koop, co-chair of the ECFTA board, stated, “We love these types of creative collaborations.
“Our community is well known for its festivals and we are thrilled to have them both under our roof.”
Spencer Shewen, artistic director of Riverfest Elora, which moved into the ECFTA last year, said the festival is looking forward to the new partnership.
“Having all of us under one roof will strengthen the overall artistic vision of our community and will ensure the continued success of both of our organizations,” Shewen stated.
Officials say Riverfest Elora and The Elora Singers will announce further collaborations “as the next season approaches.”
