Elora Sculpture Project celebrates Canada 150 with permanent displays

The 2017 edition of the Elora Sculpture Project will feature 18 sculptures, the most since launching in 2011.

The outdoor exhibition runs from May through October.

Last year the project expanded from Elora to Fergus with the creation of three sculpture sites along the Riverwalk that will host new works in 2017 along with 15 sites in downtown Elora.

The featured sculptures were selected from entries submitted by artists from across Ontario.

To commemorate Canada 150, the Elora Sculpture Project partnered with the Township of Centre Wellington to select two themed sculptures that will remain on permanent display in the community.

“Building Canada” by Rich Baker of Embro and “Humpback Rising” by Michael Truelove of Stratford will be officially unveiled later this year.

These acquisitions were made possible by a Canadian Heritage Canada 150 grant.
