CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Elora Rocks senior hockey team is back for another season playing in the Ontario Super Hockey League (OSHL).
The first game of the season will be at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre on Sept. 27 at 8:30pm.
The rocks will face the Tillsonburg Thunder, the reigning champions from last season.
“The team is pumped and ready, we’ve been working hard and feel more prepared than ever before to take on the reigning champs,” Rocks vice president Cassie Silverthorn told the Advertiser.
“It’s going to be an exciting game and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
The Rocks will compete against eight other teams for the championship.
The home opener will begin with a barbecue catered by Le Chien Chaud followed by face painting and a variety of contests and games for all ages.
Tickets are set at $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, students and alumni, and will only be sold at the door. Season passes will be on sale for $75 until puck drop.
“We’re hoping to pack the stands; the more fans, the better the atmosphere,” stated Silverthorn.
Starting in net for the Rocks will be Colin Dunne, with the rest of the starting lineup to be determined, noted Silverthorn.
Team officials announced Matteo Condotta as team captain on Sept. 23, adding this will be his first season in the leadership role.
“We’ve added some incredibly talented local players who are ready to make an impact,” Silverthorn said.
After the game the Rocks will be hosting an “after-party” in the booster club located inside the arena from 11pm to 1am.
Country musician Jessica Sevier is set to perform live.
