An Elora man faces five child pornography charges after the OPP’s Child Sexual Exploitation Unit executed five unrelated search warrants last week.
In total, four people face 18 criminal charges.
On Sept. 11, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Elora and charged Joseph James Downey, 43, with two counts of making child pornography available and three counts of possession of child pornography.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing and will next appear in Guelph court Sept. 21.
The other people charged by the OPP following last week’s busts are:
– Philip Corboy, 61, of Exeter, charged with making child pornography available and two counts of possession of child pornography;
– Michael James Cole, 25, of Collingwood, making child pornography available and two counts of possession of child pornography; and
– a 17-year-old male from Clinton, four counts of luring a person under 16, one count of sending sexually explicit material to a person under 16, one count of indecent exposure to a person under 16 and one count of failing to comply with a youth court sentence or disposition.
A fifth search warrant was executed on Sept. 11 but that investigation is ongoing, police stated in a press release.
Police stressed they “will continue to work tirelessly to fight against the sexual abuse of children.”
