GUELPH – An Elora man died following an industrial accident in Guelph on Monday morning.
Just before 9am on Oct. 24, emergency services were called to a construction site in the area of Gordon Street and Clair Road East.
Guelph Police officials say “a small excavator had tipped over, ejecting the operator and trapping him under the machine.”
Guelph firefighters extricated the man from under the machine but “efforts to revive him were not successful” and the 49-year-old Elora man was declared dead by paramedics, police say.
The Ministry of Labour has taken over the investigation.
