The Wellington County library branch here will be closed for two weeks this spring for renovations.
Information heritage and seniors committee chair councillor Rob Black reported at the March 30 Wellington County council meeting that work to refinish the hardwood flooring on the main floor of the Elora library is scheduled to take place at the end of May.
Film service
Chief librarian Murray McCabe reported library staff is investigating the purchase of a subscription to a documentary film service that would allow library patrons access to 30,000 films through the internet.
McCabe’s report notes the service offers a reasonable number of Canadian films and a number of films featured at various film festivals.
The films can be shared and the licensing agreement allows those with access to show them to groups at school or home as long as a fee for access is not charged.
“This could be a great product for leisure viewing but also for students and teachers alike,” the report states.
“The library would like to provide more access to electronic databases online in 2017 if we can strike a balance between investment and use.”
