The Elora Festival Singers will perform some of the greatest romantic music ever written for choir and piano at a concert at St. John’s Church on April 25 at 7:30pm.
Joining the group are the piano duo James Anagnoson and Leslie Kinton.
Anagnoson and Kinton and the Elora Festival Singers have performed together numerous times. The duo is no stranger to Centre Wellington. Kinton lived in Elora for almost four years, and Anagnoson lived in Fergus at the same time. They said they “feel a sense of coming home” whenever they return.
Under the baton of Noel Edison, the repertoire will include Liebeslieder Waltzes, by Johannes Brahms, and Franz Shubert’s Lebenslust, Der Tanz, and Des Tages Weihe.
Anagnoson and Kinton’s successful recital career has taken them throughout the U.S., the U.K., Asia, and every Canadian province and territory. They have been heard on the BBC, Hilversum Radio in Holland, Radio Suisse Romande, Hong Kong Radio, and they are a mainstay of CBC arts programming.
Anagnoson is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and holds a Masters degree from The Juilliard School. Kinton was a scholarship student at The Royal Conservatory of Music, and holds a Masters degree in theory and musicology from the University of Toronto.
Both are currently on the faculty of Glenn Gould School at The Royal Conservatory of Music.
This is the final concert of the Singers winter series. Their next performances will be at the Elora Festival, which runs from July 11 to August 3.
Tickets are $40 ($10 for students) and are available at the festival office, 33 Henderson Street, Elora, by phone, 519-846-0331, or toll free 1-888-747-7550, or visit www.elorafestival.com.
