ELORA – Tickets are on sale now for the Elora Festival, which promises to bring a mix of choral and instrumental music to various venues in Elora over two weekends, July 7 to 9 and July 12 to 16 this summer.
The festival opens July 7 with the Elora Singers performing a selection of works by Bach and Brahms in a concert called Spirit and Soul.
On July 8, officials say the whole family will enjoy Peter and the Wolf performed by the KW Woodwind Quartet.
Also on July 8, Confluence Concerts will take a deep dive into Clara Shumann, exploring both her compositions and her letters and diaries.
The Elora Singers wrap up the day with a performance of Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir.
Join the Elora Singers for a Sunday morning service at St. John’s Anglican Church, Elora on July 9.
Later in the day the Elora Singers will perform with Constantinople a concert called In the Footsteps of Rumi- an examination of some of the work of poet and mystic Rumi, circa 1200AD.
This day wraps up with a concert by Cantus called Alone Together.
The following week the Elora Singers perform The Elora Singers at Twilight on July 12, Choral Evensong on July 13, Music in the Woods on July 14 and their popular Unplugged concert later that day.
The Elora Singers perform with Sarah Slean on July 15 as well as a tribute concert to Canadian composer John Beckwith. On July 16 they perform Music of the North.
Other performers this weekend include the Canadian Chamber Choir, organist Jonathan Oldengarm, the New Zealand String Quartet and the Gryphon Trio.
The festival culminates July 19 with a barn dance at the Gambrel Barn.
