Elora & Fergus Tourism is hosting a free Celebrate Ontario 2016 Workshop on Sept. 30 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
Celebrate Ontario grants help create jobs and grow local economies across the province, supporting new and improved experiences that attract tourists and boost visitor spending.
This year, the province funded a record number of festivals and events across the province that celebrated our diversity, heritage and culture.
The Celebrate Ontario 2016 program is now open and receiving applications through the Grants Ontario system.
The workshop will be led by Paul Samson, Tourism Industry Advisor, Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport to discuss new program criteria and requirements, best practices and any other questions you may have on the grant, scoring and decision process.
“Grant applications can be an intimidating and time consuming process,” says Deb Dalziel of Elora Fergus Tourism.
“The aim of this workshop is to demystify the process, clarify any confusion and ultimately help our tourism stakeholders get access to much needed funds to further support the wealth of festivals and events our region boasts.”
So whether one currently run a festival or event or are thinking of starting a new one, Samson guides participants through the eligibility and application process and provide answers to questions for items participants need to know, but too afraid to ask.
Dalziel stressed this is not just for traditional tourism events – Sports groups, community groups and special interest groups can apply too.
The workshop takes place at Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex, Unity Hall, Wednesday September 30 from 10am-12pm.
Light refreshments will be served and admission is free. Please RSVP to tourism@centrewellington.ca.
