Join the Elora and Salem Horticultural Society on April 28 at 7:30pm at Heritage River Retirement Residence for a meeting.
Speaker Donna Zarudny’s topic will be Out of the Sun and Into the Shade.
Zarudny, BLA, MLA has been the owner of Dufferin Garden Centre for the last 10 years. With her background in horticulture, greenhouse operations (she was previously involved with Brampton Greenhouses) and landscape design, she is knowledgeable in all aspects of the garden centre.
Dufferin Garden Centre offers plant material, a seasonal gift shop and garden necessities. It is true to its agricultural roots, as it is set on the site of the original Rennick family farm. The centre also offers tours to horticultural societies.
Zarudny has given seminars and workshops at the garden centre and to local horticultural groups on a variety of topics.
With the knowledge gained from the presentation, audience members will be well prepared for participation in the society’s spring plant sale to be held May 15, at 8am at the Salem schoolhouse parking Lot at the corner of County Roads 7 and 18 across from the gas station.
The annual sale is a great way to kick off a gardening season.
There will be woodland plants, a good variety of herbaceous perennials, composted horse manure, and more. Donated plants can be dropped off at the Salem schoolhouse May 13 and 14, by 8pm. Proceeds from the sale are used to support community horticultural projects. For more information call Claude Lacroix at 519 843-3131.
