HARRISTON – More comedy is coming to the Crown theatre here.
Eh! Comedy Tour is set to present a special Pride Comedy Night showcase on June 24 at The Crown Harriston Cultural Centre.
Hosted by Andrew Packer, the show will feature Brandon-Ash Mohamed and Martha Chaves.
Packer said organizers decided to produce Pride Comedy Night in response to the news items about anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, “most recently from the York Catholic District School Board.”
“The idea is to bring small Ontario communities together in laughter. Whether you are an ally or a member of LGBTQ+ community, this is a place to celebrate Pride Month at a fun show with two very successful queer comedians.”
Martha Chaves describes herself as the “most famous Nicaraguan-Canadian LGBTQ+ stand-up comedian in the world,” but despite being an act of such a unique nature, she’s hilariously relatable, universally funny and accessible.
Brandon-Ash Mohamed has been featured at Just For Laughs, and has won a Canadian Screen Award for his work as head writer on Canada’s Drag Race. In 2018, he created The Ethnic Rainbow, Canada’s first and only comedy show for LGBTQ+ comedians of colour.
Packer is the co-creator of the tour, and has performed at JFL Toronto, JFL Vancouver and the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. He was a finalist in the 40th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition, and winner of “Best Overall Performance” at the Cleveland Comedy Festival.
