Although councillors and members of Wellington North’s economic development committee were slated to discuss the position of a township economic development officer, no information was presented.
In October, council made the decision it would not renew the contract of its economic development officer, so now the question is – where does the township go from here>?
Linda Reader’s contract officially expires at the end of December.
On Monday night, Mayor Mike Broomhead mentioned a Thursday meeting to discuss the EDO position and the direction of council.
Clerk Lori Heinbuch explained that it was set up as an information meeting.
Broomhead called it a special meeting, but Heinbuch defined it as a brainstorming session.
Councillor Ross Chaulk said it made sense in this instance to hold a special meeting to deal with the one issue.
However, when council was asked, there were no answers about what was to be discussed or what options were being considered regarding how it intended to deal with the EDO position.
