Edgewood Camp and Conference Centre, here will be the site of a therapeutic retreat weekend for families who are dealing with mental health challenges.
The retreat will run Feb. 12, from 5pm to Feb. 14 at 5pm.
The event is funded by the Waterloo-Wellington local initiatives program. The weekend’s schedule will include activities such as nature walks guided by teacher Kit Bresnahan, winter fort building, led by Christoff Kesting, child behaviour specialist and transition coach, skating, cross country skiing and tobogganing with children’s winter Sports instructor Gabriel Pentney, yoga with Chantalle Asselin, crafts offered by Trillium Waldorf teacher Nicole Borowik, creative dancing with artist Janus McBride, musical entertainment by Doug Jamieson, and cooking classes for the whole family with Mona Tokarek LaFosse.
Several therapeutic options will be available.
Families may choose to participate together at each session or as individuals. At the retreat, the option is there to be as busy or as quiet as the participant chooses to be. Healthy, local food will be provided.
Because of the support of the local initiatives project, the cost for the three day retreat, including all therapies, activities, food and lodging is:
– adults: $110.00;
– children under 12: $80;
