ECT audition call for The Dining Room

Auditions are coming up for Elora Community Theatre’s The Dining Room directed by Julie Wheeler Bryant. The show  will be performed at the Fergus Grand Theatre from Feb. 8 to 10 and 15 to 17.

The play is a comedy of manners with lots of fun thrown in.

The Dining Room was written by Pulitzer Prize finalist A. R. Gurney and audiences have been enjoying this classic North American play since the 1980s.

It deals with changes in people’s lives and how they try to deal with these changes in their own way, sometimes funny and sometimes very moving.

Rehearsals will begin mid-October on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings.

Auditions will take place on Oct. 9, 11 and 14. Those who are interested in auditioning or would like further information can contact jwheelerb@cogeco.ca.

Audition bookings are being made now and each booked audition will take about a half hour, involving reading from the selected scenes with two or three other people.

Excerpts from the play can be requested so actors can avoid a “cold reading”.

The director is looking for actors with versatility and ability to play variety of roles, young and old, in this comedy of manners requiring poise and deportment.

Each scene includes an element of wealth and grandeur and continual struggles with tradition and conventions Scenes span from the  1930s to the 1970s.
