When it comes to economic development, Centre Wellington councillor Steven VanLeeuwen said the Fergus BIA recently got together with the township and local business owners to discuss the matter of the St. David Street bridge replacement on Highway 6.
“It’s going to be a lot of work … and I saw a lot of passion come out of that meeting.”
But he considered the meeting an exciting first step, “because now we know some of the core issues coming forward (from a business perspective). It puts us way ahead of the game, and that is very important so we are not trying to piece everything together at the last minute.”
He said the hope is for the bridgework to begin in 2018.
