Minto’s economic development and planning committee is trying to expand its horizons.
As a result, Minto council agreed to the committee’s recommendation to appoint George Bridge as a member.
Councillor Wayne Martin said the idea is to expand representation within the community in terms of industry, commerce, and agriculture.
Two people had indicated interest in taking part.
Martin noted Bridge’s banking background and that he had moved back into the community.
Martin said he had not seen Bridge in quite a while, “but it should be quite interesting to have him on board.”
Mayor David Anderson said he had also been talking with Bridge, and noted his father was a reeve in Harriston for years and a former Wellington County warden.
As a result, Anderson said “George has had a fair amount of political exposure through his family and his father.
“He’s very interested in giving back to the community.”
