Dunfield Theatre announces third performance of Cinderella to meet demand

Drayton Entertainment will present Canada’s acclaimed Ballet Jörgen in a production of Cinderella this fall at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge.

With the 2 and 7:30pm performances on Sept. 27 already 90 per cent sold out, a third performance has been announced for 2pm on Sept. 28 in order to meet audience demand.

“This is a great opportunity for audiences of all ages to experience another form of professional live entertainment at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge. It’s also a wonderful chance for parents and grandparents to introduce young children to the magical world of dance in a way that is accessible and relatable,” says Alex Mustakas, artistic director of Drayton Entertainment.

The enchanted fairy tale is reborn with a twist on the classical ballet that involves modern and dramatic sensibilities.

When Cinderella encounters an old lady, a mysterious seed and a flock of enchanting fairies, she begins an adventure that will change her life – and upset her snooty stepsisters.

Jörgen’s choreography balances fairy tale with contemporary family relationships, creating a performance filled with wonder, laughter and love.

As one of the country’s leading dance companies, Canada’s Ballet Jörgen has been recognized for innovation, warmth, humour and beauty in its work.

In addition to the extra performance of Cinderella on Sept. 28, Drayton Entertainment and Ballet Jörgen will host a special Cinderella Showcase in celebration of Culture Days that everyone is invited to attend, free of charge.

Registration is required and may be booked online by visiting https://www.draytonentertainment.com/Online/article/cinderella.

Beginning at 11:30am audiences will watch Ballet Jörgen dancers as they prepare for the afternoon’s performance in their daily class. This exclusive event will be followed up by a brief “Q&A” session with a representative from Ballet Jörgen.
