Dreams come true in Cinderella: The Panto

The St. Jacobs Country Playhouse brings the 2016 season to a close with a fun-filled, fractured version of Cinderella, in the British panto tradition.

“Theatregoers young and old are encouraged to cheer the heroine and boo the villain in this interactive adaptation of the family classic,” officials state.

Cinderella: The Panto runs until Dec. 24.

The well-known fable tells story of a young woman who finds herself at the mercy of her villainous stepmother, and terrible stepsisters. After a fateful encounter with a prince-in-disguise in the forest, she is determined to attend the Royal Ball to meet him once again.

Cinderella remains true to herself, and with a little help from her fairy godmother and friends, is reunited with her prince.

Director and choreographer David Connolly has created a production that captivates audiences of all ages, officials say.

Costume Designer Rachel Berchtold has created costumes full of vibrant colours, cheery patterns and lots of glitz and glamour that help to bring the story to life.

A cast of seasoned performers has been assembled for this production including Danielle Wade in the title role.

Jamie McKnight,  a former member of The Canadian Tenors, play’s Cinderella’s prince.

Other lead actors include: Jackie Mustakas, Geoffrey Whynot, Justin Bott, Aidan DeSalaiz, Tim Porter, Jenni Burke, Sam DiGiuseppi, Jason Franco, Kelsey Lacombe, Nicholas Nesbitt, Robin Warwick and Christine Watson.

There is also a children’s choir featuring 28 local children.

Cinderella: The Panto is on stage until Dec. 24. Tickets can be purchased in person at the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, online at www.stjacobscountryplayhouse.com or by calling the box office at 519-747-7788 or toll free at 1-855-drayton (372-9866).
