DRAYTON – Drayton Pharmasave is now on the list of pharmacies able to provide the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
“We just opened in November 2020 and here we are only five months later administering vaccines to our community,” commented pharmacist John Walsh in an April 22 press release.
“Being a new pharmacy, there was a lot of phone calls, emails, and advocacy that took place to even make this possible,” added Walsh, who recognized Perth-Wellington MP John Nater and MPP Randy Pettapiece for their support and Mapleton Mayor Gregg Davidson “for his strong advocacy.”
The pharmacy thanked Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health vaccine medication administrator Susanne Dunford “for going above and beyond for our community.”
Eligible residents can register at draytonpharmacy.com/covid to be on the pharmacy’s notification list. The pharmacy will send out notifications via text and email for people to schedule appointments as inventory.
Any individual 40 and older as of the day of vaccination or any time in 2021 is eligible for COVID-19 vaccine administration at the pharmacy.
“However, per the ministry, it is expected that pharmacies would be focusing on vaccinating their own patients and local community,” Walsh noted.
