Drayton Farm Show raises over $5,000 for Kinsmen initiatives

DRAYTON – The 41st annual Drayton Farm Show took place this week, hosting over 100 vendors.

Over 2,300 people walked through the doors of the Drayton Arena over April 9 and 10.

The popular farm show is hosted by the Kinsmen Club of Drayton, which belongs to a non-profit organization called Kin Canada.

As the organization heavily supports their partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada (CFC), a not-for-profit corporation, half of the door proceeds ($5,000) will be donated.

“It was another success,” show chair Ray Kuper told the Community News. “It was heavy traffic on the first day [and] a little light on the second day.”

The club has around 17 active members who all gave a helping hand to get the show up and running.

Each year as part of the farm show, a model tractor is selected to be sold over the two days as a collector’s item.

This year, the chosen tractor was the Minneapolis Moline U, a line of tractors from the 1950s and 60s.

The model tractor sold for $130 each and was completely sold out, raising over $5,000 for the club’s future events and the betterment of the community.

He noted the immense help from the township arena staff, the Drayton Minor Hockey volunteers and the Drayton legion members.

As for next year’s event the Drayton Kinsmens will “start setting the dates in the next few weeks,” said Kuper.

By January the club will begin sending out contracts for vendors.
