DRAYTON 4 COMMUNITY 3
After a near-scoreless period, leading passes by Mike Hessels and Mark Scholten sent Herman Mulder down the right side boards for a breakaway rush. Mulder went to the net and slipped the puck past the goaltender’s glove for the goal in the dying seconds.
Drayton quickly padded their lead with a pair of goals early in the second. The same line scored both goals – Jason Mohle and Dave Mulder each scored a goal and worked with Brent Mulder to assist on the other.
Community came back early in the third. A rebound left by Kevin Gingrich let Dustin Bults bury the puck in the net. Joe Gerbe also assisted.
The same line rushed the net again midway through the period for another goal. Gerbe and Gingrich worked the puck behind the net and set up Bults for a tidy tip-in goal to edge closer.
Community pressed in for the tying goal. Gerbe and Gingrich worked the puck deep into the left side corner and sent a cross ice pass to John Horst along the opposite boards. Horst blasted a slap shot to surprise the netminder and tie the game.
Drayton came back with a rush in the final minute of play. Aaron Keunan and Eric Deckers moved the puck deep and set up Jessie Hoekstra for the winning goal.
LISTOWEL 5 MISSIONARY 5
Back and forth play ended the first period in a 2-2 tie. Devin McGuire and Curtis Bults scored the Missionary goals, assisted by Bults, Brady Franklin and Nathan Rhame.
Listowel goals were supplied by Phil and Josh Shantz, assisted by Travis Kuepfer and Dustin Gingrich.
Missionary took the lead with a power play early in the second.
A scramble at the net left a rebound for Thomas Ruttimann to bury the puck behind a scrambling net minder, assisted by McGuire and Rhame.
Missionary added an insurance goal shortly after. A tidy wrist shot by Pat Landman created the goal, assisted by Franklin.
Listowel edged back for a goal before the period ended. Zach Gingrich stepped into a loose puck and fired it into the net for an unassisted tally.
Listowel tied the game in the final minute of the period. A pass from behind the net by Phil Shantz gave Josh Shantz a shot into the high corner.
A rush at the net early in the third gave Listowel the lead. A scramble at the net ended with Brad Gratz finding the hole, assisted by Phil Shantz and Travis Kuepfer.
Missionary stormed back to tie the game. Dylan Bults rifled in a shot to lock things up again and end the game in a tie. Assists went to Rhame and Landman.
BETHEL 2 FLORADALE 2
Floradale scored the opening goal early in the second period. Javan Martin skated in on the left wing and rang the puck underneath the crossbar for the goal, assisted by Corey Wideman.
Floradale added another goal late in the period. A shot by Nick Martin slipped the puck into the short side corner. Greg and Ryan Martin drew assists.
Bethel came back early in the third for a goal. Laverne Metzger skated the puck around the back of the net and centred a pass to Ian Martin at the opposite corner. Martin knifed the puck into the open corner with a backhander, assisted also by Tom Schuurmans.
Bethel tied the game shortly after. Metzger skated a loose puck over the blue line and blasted a slap shot for an unassisted goal.
