DRAYTON 7 MISSIONARY 1
Brent Mulder stepped into a loose puck along the right boards. Mulder went to the net and slipped a soft shot along the ice to send the puck under the goalie’s pads.
Drayton added two more goals before the first period ended. Herman Mulder stepped into a rebound and scored, assisted by Eric Deckers and Brandon Rumph.
Deckers scored with a shot into the open corner to finish the period, assisted by Colton and Jessie Hoekstra.
Drayton started the second period with a goal. A scramble at the net ended with Brent Mulder slipping the puck past a sprawling netminder, assisted by Jason Mohle and Dave Mulder.
Missionary came back midway through the period. Zack Leslie knifed a back hander into the webbing to give Missionary the goal, assisted by Zach Franklin and Matt Burnett.
Drayton responded late in the period. A low shot by Brent Mulder gave him his hat trick through two periods, assisted by Rumph.
Drayton added two more unanswered goals in the third to put the game away. Jessie Hoekstra and Rob DeWeerd scored the goals, with assists from Eric Deckers, Aaron Keunan, Herman Mulder, and Mark Scholten.
The win gives Drayton a 1-0 in the best-of-three ‘A’ Division semifinals.
COMMUNITY 5 FLORADALE 3
Floradale scored the only goal in the first period. A play from behind the net had Greg Martin tuck the puck into the short side corner, assisted by Nick Martin.
Community took the lead with two quick goals early in the second. Calvin Martin scored the tying goal off a pass by Kevin Gingrich, who stormed the net less than a minute later for the go-ahead goal, assisted by Dustin Bults and Colin Snyder.
Community added an insurance goal midway through the period. A shot by Delmer Frey bounced the puck out to Tony Martin who batted the puck into the net.
Floradale came back with a goal to start off the third. A quick tip in by Willis Martin slipped the puck underneath the goaltender, assisted by Braeden Gingerich and Ryan Martin.
Floradale pressed in and was rewarded with the tying goal.
Corey Wideman skated into a loose puck at the blue line and rifled the puck into the net with a slap shot.
Community took the lead in the final seconds. Gingrich took a centring pass and blasted the puck past the glove for the winning goal assisted by Kyle Wideman and Dustin Buts.
Gingrich added one more empty net goal to finish the win and lead the best-of-three ‘A’ Division semifinals 1-0.
BETHEL 3 LISTOWEL 0
After a scoreless first period, Bethel lit up the score board with three unanswered goals in the second. Laverne Metzger started things off with a tip in goal.
Alex Martin scored with a wrist shot and Ben Wideman finished a break away rush with a backhander into the net. Assists were earned by Martin, Metzger and Tom Schuurmans.
The three goal surge ended up to be the only goals in the game as both teams skated through a scoreless third.
The win gives Bethel a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three ‘B’ Division semifinals.
