With construction running ahead of schedule, this community is preparing to celebrate the re-opening of its main street.
Elora Street through downtown Harriston has been closed to vehicular traffic since late May for a major reconstruction project originally scheduled to last until September.
Minto business and economic manager Belinda Wick-Graham said at the July 21 council meeting that with a mid-August completion target now in sight, a party is planned downtown on Aug. 15.
The event will include family activities from 10am to 2pm and a street dance, featuring live music in the evening, from 8 to 11pm.
Wick-Graham said if Elora Street is open the dance will be held on adjacent Maitland Street, however, “if it’s still closed it will be a main street dance.”
