On June 16, Centre Wellington is joining the rest of the province in celebration of community heritage for the annual Doors Open event.
Doors Open showcases buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure and cultural landscapes that shape and define communities. This free event provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to explore these sometimes hidden places, creating an awareness and excitement about local heritage.
This year, the theme is “toward a fair and just society.”
Doors Open Ontario states “this theme will give an opportunity to explore the progress we’ve made over the last 100 years since women’s suffrage and the equality movement in Ontario’s pluralistic society.”
Locally, organizers are currently seeking interesting sites to share their stories (does not need to be theme related).
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to provide support on the day and in the weeks leading up to the event. For more information, contact Elizabeth at ebender@centrewellington.ca by Feb. 16.
