Donkey Day is June 9

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC)will host its most important fundraising event of the year, Donkey Day, on June 9.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Donkey Day is family-friendly fun, featuring live entertainment from musicians such as Donnie Rea, Tyson & His Gameboy, Bill Killionaire and Alanna Gurr and back by popular demand, Music with Brian.

Activities will include the Diamond Agility Dogs, a silent auction, wagon rides, Kid’s Fun Fest (tattoos, face painting, donkey frame craft and straw roll) and fun donkey-theme events like the Donkey ‘N U photo opportunity, Paint the Donkey and Name the Donkey contest. There will be demonstrations by “Our Partners in Care,” plus great food and plenty of donkeys.

The DSC is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and protection of abandoned, neglected or abused donkeys, mules and hinnies. Animals admitted to the DSC are given a lifelong home.  Currently, it is home to 70 donkeys and mules.

The DSC is a non-profit organization that relies solely on individual donations and fundraising events, such as Donkey Day. The Sanctuary does not receive government funding.

Admission to Donkey Day is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages three to 18 years.

Donkey Day takes place June 9 at the DSC, located at 6981 Puslinch Concession 4, just west of the Hanlon Parkway, from 10am to 4pm.
