Don Antosh wins Lis Pieper Memorial Award

Don Antosh of Elora received the Lis Pieper Memorial Award at the Elora Community Theatre’s annual general meeting,

The recipient is selected by local theatre groups which include Elora Community Theatre, On the Spot Productions, Centre Wellington Children’s Theatre, Fergus Grand Theatre Volunteer Group and other users of the Fergus Grand Theatre.

After Pieper, a longtime active member of Elora Community Theatre (ECT), passed away six years ago, the ECT group established the Lis Pieper Memorial Award.

This award was set up to honour those who made outstanding contributions to local theatre in Centre Wellington over the course of several years and to recognize individuals who have exhibited Pieper’s dedication to community theatre.

The Lis Pieper Memorial Award plaque hangs in the front lobby of the Fergus Grand Theatre.

Antosh was a member of the Fergus Grand Theatre volunteer executive from 2004 to 2011.

He acted as house manager and volunteer coordinator and was instrumental in recruiting volunteers, officials say.

Antosh  has been involved, on stage or off, building sets, acting, producing with the Elora Community Theatre, On the Spot Productions, Vision Productions, Grinder Productions and The Not So Grand Players and has served on the boards of both ECT and the old Theatre on the Grand.

In addition Antosh  has put in numerous volunteer hours at the theatre – building and fixing items, solving problems and generally getting work done, officials state.

He continues to be involved with Elora Community Theatre.

“Congratulations Don for your continued years of support for the arts community in Centre Wellington,” officials said.
