Wellington North Council sees the importance of succession planning and has taken a step in implementing a smooth transition in the Works Department with the pending retirement of Manager of Public Works, Gary Williamson on March 31.
Council posted the position internally to fill the job from the township’s existing employees. With that process having taken place, council has announced Barry Trood, the township’s current water and sewer foreman has been selected as of Director of Public Works effective April 1.
Williamson has agreed following his retirement on March 31 to assist with the transition.
He will make his services available as a contract employee on an as required basis, to Trood and Dale Clark, the Road Superintendent; also council and Chief Administrative Officer Lori Heinbuch,.
