The Township of Centre Wellington and the Regional Tourism Office (RTO4) continue collaboration on the growth of tourism in Elora & Fergus with the agreed upon vision “To become Ontario’s idyllic experience showcasing our natural setting, heritage towns and arts and culture”.
Five committees were formed with local tourism operators and township staff to develop projects that would improve the visitor experience.
A recurring theme out of discussions with tourism operators at committee meetings was the desire for additional education on the effectiveness of digital and social media.
In response, on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Aboyne Hall in the Wellington County Musuem and Archives, there will be a presentation on digital and social media marketing leading into discussions o discuss challenges and opportunities, as well as the specific need for additional workshops.
Naheed Somji, an award-winning social media marketer, will present the Five Major Keys to Social Media Success.
Naheed brings a wealth of marketing experience to the table; he currently leads the social media program at Economical Insurance, has worked with large multi-nationals, and presents at conferences and events throughout the region.
