Diabetes appeal raises over $37,000

Annual appeal convenor Alice Van Ankum recently announced volunteer canvassers raised $37,326 for the North Perth – North Wellington Branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA).

This year, over 110 volunteer canvassers knocked on their neighbours’ doors across the branch area that includes Clifford to Alma and Dundalk to Mitchell.

Due to the loss of some canvassers, not all areas were canvassed, but anyone willing to support the association can still do so by sending a donation to PO Box 8, Harriston, N0G 1Z0 or by stopping by the office located at 94B Elora Street South in Harriston. The office is open Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30pm, weather permitting.

The money collected supports the work of the CDA. All money raised help support diabetes research, programs and services, education and advocacy.

The latest statistics show that over 11 million Canadians are living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. This condition, when left unchecked, could result in devastating complications.
