WELLINGTON NORTH – Wellington County OPP here have identified the driver involved in a fatal single-vehicle collision here Monday as 22-year-old Meagan Janelle Byers of Mount Forest and are continuing to investigate what led to the collision.
On Dec. 6 at approximately 6:55am, Wellington County OPP, along with Wellington North and Centre Wellington fire services and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Sideroad 3 West, south of Mount Forest.
“It was determined that an [SUV] was travelling on Sideroad 3 when it collided with the guardrail before leaving the roadway and became partially submerged in a body of water,” states a press release from the Wellington County OPP.
“The vehicle was removed from the water and the driver was located inside and later pronounced deceased.”
Wellington County OPP, with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement and Technical Collision Investigation, continue to investigate the collision.
Side Road 3 West between Wellington Road 6 and Side Road 2 West was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.
