WELLINGTON COUNTY – Deanna Wiley of Guelph/Eramosa is this year’s recipient of the Luella Logan Scholarship.
Warden Kelly Linton announced the 2021 recipient during the Oct. 28 county council meeting.
The Luella Logan Scholarship annually grants $1,500 to a young woman pursuing post-secondary studies in political science, public administration, or a related undergraduate or graduate degree at a Canadian college or university.
Selection of the scholarship recipient is based on academic excellence and demonstration of leadership and interest in local government.
Wiley is the third recipient of the scholarship, which is funded by a donation to the county from longtime Palmerston-area resident Robert Logan in recognition of his late wife, Luella “Lou” Logan, the first female councillor to sit on Wellington County council.
“On behalf of county council I would like to congratulate Ms. Wiley on receiving the 2021 Luella Logan Scholarship,” said Linton.
“Ms. Wiley already has an impressive political resume and we all look forward to her future political contributions.”
