Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites residents to connect with neighbours and give back to the community at the annual Erin Community Tree Planting on May 5 from 9am to noon.
This event is held in partnership with the Rotary Club of Erin, Town of Erin and Erin Trails Group. Participants are asked to meet along Rotary Trail off Delarmbro Drive.
Native tree plantings are an opportunity for residents to contribute to the local natural environment. Planting trees are one of the best ways neighbours can help build a healthy community that’s resilient to climate change. Over the course of a year, a single acre of mature trees absorbs as much carbon dioxide as a car driving almost 42,000 kilometres.
Planting trees helps reduce soil erosion, creates habitat for birds and animals and contributes to a beautiful neighbourhood. Volunteers are essential to help maintain a healthy local environment.
No experience is necessary and CVC staff provide the tree planting “know how”. Students are encouraged to participate to earn their community volunteer hours.
Participants should dress for the weather, and wear long pants and boots if possible. Shovels and gloves are provided.
