Restoring and protecting the local environment is a hard fought battle.
Dedicated environmental champions in the community are on the front lines ensuring a vibrant and healthy environment for future generations. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) recognizes these champions in its annual Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards and is seeking nominations for the 2012 awards ceremony.
“Protecting the environment must be a collaborative effort with support from conservation authorities, all levels of government and dedicated residents, businesses and community groups,” said Mike Puddister, Director of Restoration and Stewardship for CVC.
Nominations are open to residents, landowners, community groups, schools, youth, small businesses and corporations, municipalities and agencies.
A variety of activities are eligible. Awards recognize one-time projects or those that extend over multiple years.
Special awards include the Young Conservationist Award for those under 25 and the Watershed Legacy Donor Award, which recognizes significant land donations that help protect the natural environment in theCredit River Watershed.
Nominations are open until December 3 and can be submitted online at www.creditvalleyca.ca/nominate.
The Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards will be held on March 21, 2013.
For more than 20 years, CVC has presented awards to individuals, landowners, community groups, small businesses, corporations, municipalities and agencies that have made a significant contribution to managing natural resources in the Credit River Watershed.
