The Town of Minto has reached new agreements for facility usage with curling clubs in Palmerston and Harriston.
The town’s two curling clubs are the exclusive users of the curling ice at the Harriston and Palmerston arenas. While the clubs operate in similar fashion and have similar relationships with town staff, they have been operating under different arrangements, with some minor variations, states recreation services manager Matt Lubbers in a Sept. 11 report to council.
Recreation and facility staff have worked out new agreements to eliminate the variations and create identical arrangements between the town and the clubs, to replace expired agreements.
Under the new arrangements, both clubs will pay monthly rent of $2,750, plus HST, pro-rated during the first and last months of the curling season. The town will cover water and hydro costs, while the clubs will be responsible for natural gas costs.
“In the past there were discrepancies, so it’s good that we’re going to get everyone on the same page,” said Mayor George Bridge.
Council approved the new agreements.
