Dozens of people attended the Culture Matters roundtable sessions on June 6 hosted by Centre Wellington’s cultural planning project.
The session focused on cultural priorities for the future of the township.
The ones discussed included municipal and community support to green initiatives, funding, networking and heritage preservation to youth retention and more.
Individuals representing a variety of cultural and community groups played a role in the discussions and brainstorming. Results of the roundtable sessions are being compiled and the results will be shared as they are ready at www.culturemattersCW.com.
The cultural planning project, made possible through a grant from the province, is an opportunity for the township to identify and document its cultural resources and assets while exploring cultural priorities for the community that will be shared with township council for inclusion in the official plan.
The roundtable sessions are one part of a larger community engagement piece of the project, which also includes presentations, interviews and attendance at cultural and community meetings and events as well as an online survey.
Anyone who lives or works or both in the community can still contribute and the township wants to hear from everyone.
