Culture Days launches this weekend

Nearly 7,000 free activities will take place in some 800 communities across Canada for the third annual Culture Days on Sept. 28 to 30, including over 50 activities that will take place in Guelph and surrounding Wellington County.

 Participants and community members in Guelph can join the celebration and take part in a wide range of activities in every discipline including: visual arts, music, dance, theatre, architecture, heritage, film and video, literature, and new media.

The celebration will take place throughout the city and programming will be delivered by artists, art and cultural organizations, as well as community members who are keen on sharing their passion with the community at large.

Some highlights of great activities happening in Guelph include:

– Take a Memory; Leave a Memory – Sept. 29 to 30, various times throughout the weekend, Guelph Public Library (Main Branch).

– Creating Birds of Paradise with Artist Lisa Du Fresne – Sept. 28-30, various times throughout the weekend, Tytler Public School (131 Ontario Street).

– Yarn Bombing St. George’s Square – Sept. 29 to 30, various times throughout the weekend, St. George’s Square in Downtown Guelph.

– Graffiti Fest – Sept. 29, 10am-4pm, Cork Street.

– Guelph Historical Walking Tour– Sept. 30, 2 pm, tour will depart from 25 Waterloo Ave.

Launched in 2010, Culture Days is a civil society driven initiative overseen by a national steering Committee and volunteer provincial task forces and local organizations including Guelph Arts Council and the City of Guelph.
