A Centre Wellington man is dead following a three-vehicle accident on Highway 6 on Oct. 10.
At approximately 6:50am Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 approximately one kilometre north of Wellington Road 22 in Centre Wellington (formerly Nichol Township).
Officers attended the scene along with the Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and determined three motor vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
One of the drivers involved in the collision, James Pronk, 48, of Fergus was transported to Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus where he succumbed to his injuries.
A second driver, aged 74 of former Nichol Township, was transported to Guelph General Hospital and later transferred to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The third driver, a 19-year-old male from Fergus, was not injured.
Wellington County OPP officers assisted by Wellington OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Highway Safety Division Reconstructionists investigated the collision.
