GUELPH – As of Dec. 21, 16 schools in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) region were reporting active cases of COVID-19.
Since September, cases have been reported at 53 schools and five child care facilities in the region. Several institutions have experienced more than one case of COVID-19.
Almost all the cases are school-related, meaning at least one classroom had to be closed because students/staff may have been exposed.
As of Dec. 21 confirmed cases were currently being reported at the following schools:
– John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph, one case reported on Dec. 19, class closures to be determined;
– Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus, three cases reported on Dec. 19, class closures to be determined;
– St. Ignatius Catholic Elementary School in Guelph, one case reported on Dec. 17, one classroom closed;
– Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph, three cases reported on Dec. 17, class closures to be determined;
– Rickson Ridge Public School in Guelph, one case reported on Dec. 16, one classroom closed;
– St. James Catholic High School in Guelph, one case reported on Dec. 15, one classroom closed;
– St. John Catholic Elementary School in Guelph, two cases reported on Dec. 14, two classrooms closed;
– Drayton Heights Public School in Drayton, six cases reported on Dec. 14, all classrooms open;
– Mitchell Woods Public School in Guelph, three cases reported on Dec. 11, class closures to be determined;
– Orangeville District Secondary School, five cases reported on Dec. 13, three classrooms closed;
– Paisley Road Public School in Guelph, two cases reported on Dec. 11, one classroom closed;
– Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School in Guelph, three cases reported on Dec. 10, three classrooms closed (note as of Dec. 17, two cases, one classroom closed);
– St. Joseph Catholic School in Guelph, one case reported on Dec. 7, one classroom closed;
– Spencer Avenue Elementary School in Orangeville, two cases reported on Dec. 7, two classrooms closed (note as of Dec. 17, one case, one classroom closed);
– Erin District High School, two cases reported on Dec. 7, two classrooms closed (note as of Dec. 15, one case reported, one classroom closed); and
– Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School in Guelph, three case reported on Dec. 4, three classrooms closed (note as of Dec. 14, two cases reported, two classrooms closed).
